need help on what to buy to play d&d?
okay so im getting 3 core books for d&d 4th edition
Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, and Monster Manual
im getting the dice and player sheets
i doubt im going to get any miniatures, battle mats or tiles
my questions:
do i need the core books 2..3…and so on?
do i need anything else?
books that arnt core needed?
this will be my first time ever playing so all info will help
I would recommend getting some kind of a battle mat. Even if you just make something on butcher paper. You will also want something for minis, but you just might want to use coins, etc. 4E relies HEAVILY on rules for miniatures, so trying to do without them is not recommended.
You don’t need any other books, but if you have a hard time coming up with a story and encounters to run, you might want to pick up an adventure. For beginning players I recommend Keep on the Shadowfell.
